Walmart’s New EV Delivery Van is Way Cuter Than Amazon or FedEx Van

Walmart has just order 4,500 (with an option to increase to 10,000) electric delivery vans from EV Startup, Canoo. The EV van looks like a giant pill capsule and is based on the lifestyle version of the Canoo.

The vehicles will be used to deliver online orders in a sustainable way which will also contribute to Walmart’s goal to achieve zero-emissions by 2040.

Walmart will be the first to receive Canoo’s Lifestyle Delivery Vehicle (LDV) which is anticipated to begin hitting the road for Walmart deliveries in 2023. Here are some specs.

  • Utilizes true steer by wire technology, reducing cabin intrusion and adding interior space
  • Solo seat offers better driver ergonomics and panoramic window improves road visibility
  • 120 cubic feet of fully customizable cargo volume
  • 1,543 lb payload capacity
  • DC fast charging 20-80% in 28 minutes
  • ADAS Level 2
  • 200+ miles of range
  • Rear cargo light

In addition to its fulfillment centers, Walmart will use the vans at up to 3,800 of its brick-and-mortar locations to fulfill and deliver online orders. Those locations are located within 10 miles of 90% of the US population.

When compared to the EV delivery vans from Amazon and FedEx, the Walmart van is the smallest but also the cutest.

The main advantage for Amazon and FedEx is their EV vans are already on the road. Walmart’s Canoo van won’t be until next year.
