The S-APEX Is What You Get When You Spend $250K for A Tesla Plaid

So you like the Tesla Model S Plaid and you want to get one. However, you find the car to be just a little too plain, especially in California where Teslas are everywhere. How do you make your EV stand out from the crowd? Well, if you have an extra $250,000 burning a hole in your pocket, the S-APEX is your answer.

The S-APEX is the creation of Unplugged Performance, a Tesla tuning shop located right next door to Tesla and Space X in Hawthorne, California. Unplugged has been tuning and racing Teslas for years, and the S-APEX is their interpretation of what a Tesla can be if all the stops were pulled out.

The Tesla Model S Plaid is powered by three motors making 1020 hp and can do zero to 60 mph in 1.99 seconds, so there was no need for more power. Instead, UP focused their efforts on looks, material quality, and stopping power. The S-APEX has a lot more street presence thank to its wide body design. The look is complimented with exposed carbon fiber pieces made in partnership with Koenigsegg Advanced Manufacturing. Yes, this Tesla uses the same carbon fiber found in Koenigsegg’s multi-million dollar hypercars.

The interior is where the Plaid received the biggest upgrade. The stock interior was stripped out and replaced with a gorgeous caramel-colored von Holzhausen vegan Banbu Leather interior. The vegan leather is buttery-soft, scratch-resistant, stain-resistant, water-resistant, lightweight, and made from the most renewable raw material on earth – bamboo.

To make the S-APEX stop as fast as it accelerates, UP replaced the stock steel brakes with much bigger carbon ceramic brakes and lightweight 21” UP-03 wheels. The car is also lowered for a much more aggressive look.

All this does not come cheap. The UP S-Apex starts at $249,995. You can order it as a brand new car direct from UP, or you can bring your Tesla Model S Plaid to them and have the S-Apex package installed.
