Mate Rimac has released a video showing their brand new factory and the first car to roll out of that factory. The factory is so clean, you can eat off the floor. I wonder how long it will stay that way?
It’s been five long years to get the Nevera from concept to production. Along the way, 17 prototypes were produced, 9 cars were destroyed in 45 crash tests, and a new temporary factory was built. That seems like a lot of work just to make 150 cars. I guess that’s one of the reasons it sells for €2 million ($2.1 million USD).
The first car off the production line is a turquoise painted Nevera that belongs to Mate Rimac himself. The car carries serial number 000, and Mate even got a custom plate for it. The “2360 NM” after the “ZG” is a cool reference to the Nevera’s peak torque of 2,360 Nm (1,740 lb-ft).
The Nevera is powered by four electric motors making 1,914 hp and can do 0-62 mph (0 100 km/h) in 1.97 seconds, 0-186 mph (0-300 km/h) in 9.3 seconds, the quarter-mile in 8.6 seconds, and the top speed is 256 mph (412 km/h). The motors is powered by a 120-kWh battery pack that can take up to 500 kW of DC fast charging and go from zero to 80% charge in just 19 minutes. The estimated WLTP range is 341 miles (550 km).
With production started, the Rimac Nevera officially becomes the quickest accelerating production car in the world. Sorry Tesla.
