While at South OC Cars and Coffee I got an opportunity to check out the new Tesla Model S Plaid. This is the world’s quickest production car you can buy today. I also go some ribbing from a group of EV critics.
The Tesla Model S Plaid is powered by three electric motors making a total of 1020hp. It’s enough to blast the car from zero to 60mph in just 1.99 seconds, and do the quarter mile in 9.23 seconds at over 150mph. Top speed is 200mph, but it’s currently limited to 163mph until a software update unlocks the extra speed. Who would have thought that the world’s quickest car would be 4 door 5 passenger family sedan that you can charge at home and drive everyday?
