Someone Paid $19 million To Have Lunch with Warren Buffett

For the past two decade, Warren Buffett helped raised money for the Glide Foundation with the Power of One Charity Auction Lunch. If you were the high bidder, he would have lunch with you. This year’s winner bid a record high $19,000,100 to enjoy a private lunch with Buffett and up to seven guests at Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse in New York City.

The amount blew away the previous high bid of $4,567,888 set in 2019 by cryptocurrency entrepreneur Justin Sun. The auction took a break in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.

One of the reasons for the mega high bid is this is the last year Buffett will do the charity auction. The Glide Foundation will have to find another billionaire to have lunch with in the future.

Since starting the Power of One lunch in 2000, the yearly auction has raised over $53 million for Glide. The winning bids have ranged from $25,000 for the first auction to this year’s highest-ever bid of $19,000,100. The winner of the this year’s auction has chosen to remain anonymous.
