During Orange County Restaurant week, happening right now until March 7, you can sample prix fixe menus from some of the best restaurants in Southern California. We started our culinary adventure with a dot com lunch at Eureka!
While there are 14 Eureka! locations, we chose the one near the University of California, Irvine. The restaurant is a place to eat, drink, and be social. There’s a big bar with lots of beers of tap, but no music during lunch. That all changes at night, however. Then Eureka! turns into quite the party spot.
Eureka! is known for serving fine America food, especially burgers. For Restaurant week, Eureka! offered a $20 lunch consisting of Shishito Peppers appetizer, an Eureka! Burger or Pork Sandwich for the entree, and a Chocolate Espresso Soufflé for dessert. Only one of us went for the Restaurant Week menu. I decided to create my own by starting with the white fish tacos. I went with the Jalapeño Egg Burger for the main course.
The stand out dish for me was the Shishito Peppers. They were mighty tasty. My burger was tender and juicy. However, the Jalapeño lacked heat. I expected it to be hotter. Overall, the experience was quite positive and I recommend you give Eureka! a try if there’s a location near you.
