There is a lot of news about Elon Musk’s attempt to buy Twitter and take it private. However, Elon wasn’t the first person to try to buy the social media network.
Way back in March 2010, when Twitter was still a startup with dreams of an IPO, a newly minted billionaire named Mark Z wanted to buy Twitter because “Sergei, my neighbor, just bought a spacecraft. I want to one-up him.” However, he wasn’t sure if the purchase was financially sound, so he called into the “Can I Afford It?” segment of the Suze Orman show to ask the financial guru if he should buy it. This is the video of that call.
