The SmallRig Advanced Kit for Sony Alpha 7 IV/Alpha 7S III 3669 is designed to reduce armload and increase stability during handheld shooting while offering a wide range of accessory mounts. It’s a great foundation to build the ultimate cinema rig.
The Advanced kit includes the cage, an HDMI cable clamp, a top handle, and a side handle. All the parts can be purchased separately or as a kit.
The top handle feels comfortable and enables easy carrying and low-angle shots. The side grip features a silicone insert for better grip and more stable two-handed shooting. The HDMI cable clamp, mounted onto the left side of the cage via one 1/4″-20 screw and two ARRI locating pins, prevents deflection and fixes cables with a thumbscrew to protect interfaces and ensure stability signal transmission.
The cage features 1/4″-20 threaded holes, ARRI 3/8″ -16 locating holes, cold shoes mount, NATO rail and Arca Swiss moount support. Additionally, holes on both sides of the cage allow attaching hand straps. The cage comes with a built-in magnetic flat-head screwdriver and hex spanner that facilitates assembly and disassembly.
The Kit is designed to work with Sony Alpha 7 IV, Alpha 7 S III and Alpha 1 cameras. I will be using the kit to build out an ultimate video rig by adding an on camera monitor, wireless mics, a matte box, and whatever else I can think of. Look for it in a future blog post.
