Black is one of the most popular colors for a car. This Porsche 911 Turbo has been painted in Musou Black, an extreme black paint developed by Koyo Orient. It’s the blackest black you can commercially buy. The water-based acrylic paint absorbs 99.4% of all light, and makes whatever it paints look like it was photoshopped out of the picture.
For whatever reason, a Porsche owner in Japan thought it would be a good idea to turn his 911 into a black hole by painting it in Musou Black. The paint job was done by Pit One. You can see the process in the video below.
The end result is 911 Turbo devoid its details and creases, almost turning the car into a shadow or a two dimensional drawing. It’s safe to say it’s probably not a great idea to drive this car during nighttime, even though that’s exactly what the owner did.
While Musou Black is the blackest black you can buy, it isn’t the blackest black ever made. That honor goes to Vantablack by Surrey Nanosystems. Vantablack can absorb 99.965% of visible light and is used by the aerospace and defense sectors, so it’s not available to the public. However, BWM did get a license to paint their X6 in Vantablack when the car launched in 2019.
