Mazda used South OC Cars and Coffee (and over 100 MX-5 Miatas) to show off the all new Made In The USA Mazda CX-50. While we all love supercars, most people attending the Cars and Coffee will never own one. This is where the CX-50, with a starting price of just $26,800, comes in. This rugged and capable SUV is purpose built for the active OC lifestyle. Mazda US headquarter is based in the OC.
Power for the CX-50 comes from a 2.5L naturally aspirated 4 banger producing a weak 187hp, or a 2.5L turbo setup making a somewhat respectable 256hp. Neither motor will have my Tesla shaking in its boots. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The CX-50 comes standard with i-Activ All-Wheel Drive technology and new Mazda Intelligent Drive Select with Sport, Off-Road and Towing modes on select packages. Drive modes can be selected with the Mi-Drive control and will help the crossover SUV perform in a wide variety of driving conditions, such as off-road terrain, snow or while towing up to 3,500 pounds.
The CX-50 is available in ten packages. Pricing starts at a very un-supercar like $26,800 for the CX-50 2.5 S, and goes all the way to a still un-supercar like $41,550 for the CX-50 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus. The SUV will be in dealers this spring, and sold as a 2023 model.
In addition to the all new CX-50, South OC Cars and Coffee featured a ton of to other cars. Check it out video and photos.
