The more I play with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2, the more I like it. This DSLR in a compact body could very well be the ultimate digital camera for bloggers. It can easily fit into a jacket pocket or purse and the picture quality is beyond anything a normal digital camera can produce.
My GF2 came with a 14mm f/2.5 Prime lens. This wide angle lens is very good for taking low light shots and has a depth of field which allows me to blur the background (or foreground) and focus on the main object. Speaking of focus, I can do that with the 3″ touch screen display – just tap what I want to focus on and the camera does it. You can also take pictures by tapping on the screen.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2 with the 14mm lens sells for $699 at Amazon.com. It is also available with a 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens or body only. When you take into a account that this camera can replace a DSLR and a HD camcorder, it becomes a bargain.
The Lumix GF2 offers full HD video in AVCHD format. It also has stereo microphones to record audio. The video quality is pretty amazing. The Prime lens does an amazing job capturing all the details in the frame. Below is a video I made using the GF2 and 14mm lens (make sure you watch in HD). I have other lens coming and I will be testing those. For now, I am extremely pleased with what Panasonic has been able to do.
