2000 HP Drako Dragon At South OC Cars and Coffee

In this video, I check out the Drako Dragon at South OC Cars and Coffee. This 2,000 hp all-electric SUV claims to achieve a top speed of over 200 mph, sprints from zero to 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds, and do the quarter mile in 9 seconds flat. Drako boast that the Dragon is most powerful, quickest, and fastest production SUV in history, and it can be yours starting at only $290,000.

For comparison, the Tesla Model X Plaid has “only” 1020 hp, does 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds, the quarter mile in 9.9-second, and a stop speed 163 mph. However, the Tesla cost a lot less. The Model X Plaid starts at $139,000, which mean you can buy two Plaids for less than the cost of one Dragon. I should also note that Tesla’s numbers have been confirmed in real life, while Drako has only given estimates since the Dragon is not yet in production.

Drako Dragon is the world’s first production SUV with a full carbon fiber structure. This not only enables the exotic design and proportions of the Dragon, but also saves 50 percent of the weight of the chassis compared to a traditional SUV while delivering twice the structural rigidity. This weight savings helps offset the necessary weight of the battery pack. The Drago has a curb weight of 4,969 pounds (2,254 kg), which is heavy but is on par, and even a bit lighter, with other high-powered ICE SUVs.

The Drago was designed by Lowie Vermeersch and his GranStudio team in Italy. The design features two large gull-wing doors, a coupe-style roofline, 23-inch alloy wheels, and aero that includess a hole in the grille that leads out to the bonnet and flying buttresses. Inside, there’s room for five, a massive 17.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, a smaller digital instrument cluster, two screens for the rearview cameras, and two iPad Pro tablets on the seatbacks for the rear passengers.

Although the Dragon is designed in Italy, it will be built in America with plans to ramp production to 5,000 units per year. Production and first customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026. You can reserve one right now with a $500 refundable deposit. For those who want to be among the first to get the Hyper SUV, a $5,000 deposit is required to reserve the Dragon First Edition.
