It’s been over a week since I picked up my new Jaguar F Type, and I’ve received a ton of emails about it.
In this Driving with John Chow episode, I compare the Jag to the my Mercedes SL550, and explain the plus and minuses of each. The F Type is more powerful and sportier, while the SL 550 is a more luxurious riding car with more tech gadgets than the space shuttle.
In many ways, the F Type is the polar opposite of the SL. One is a quiet and conservative. The other is loud and attention grabbing. If you don’t like attention, then do not drive a Jaguar F Type, especially one that’s painted in arrest me red. The exhaust is so loud, the cops will hear you before they see you. You can tone down the voice with a push of the active exhaust button. But why would you want to? All that anger comes at the expense of fuel economy. While both cars have the same MPG rating, I barely got 200 miles out of the first tank of gas because I was driving like a hooligan. Good thing I live the Dot Com Lifestyle.
