If you’ve been trying to grow your email list, this guide is for you.
Most people think that once they can drive thousands of traffic to their website, their subscription rates would skyrocket. Are you serious?
No, it doesn’t work that way. Don’t forget that most of the visitors you’d send to your website are already marketers themselves or aspiring businesspeople – especially if your niche is internet marketing related.
Now that you’ve this insight, what you must do is to optimize every aspect of your blog so that it can suit your target audience. Readers and prospects aren’t alien to follow up emails.
In fact, they know quite well that filling your subscription box would cause them to confirm account via email & receive series of emails down the line.
This post isn’t going to be about web traffic generation. If you need help on those, I’ve a guide for you.
But with the few hits you receive on your website daily, you can convert them into subscribers – I mean in just 30 days the effect of this exercise would overwhelm you. Go give it a try.
Add optin box on the header
If you’re not a professional blog designer, you can get a skilled person to help you embed your optin box on the header. You and I know that the most visible portion of your wordpress blog is the header.
The moment someone lands at your blog, their eyes would quickly move to the header and whatever call-to-action you’ve right there will be followed.
Inasmuch as you’ve good and helpful content for your target audience, they’re not going to join your list just like that – you should position the box at vantage places – like the header.
Some wordpress themes come with widgets for top header. If that’s the case, you’re good to go.
Just add the widget and customize accordingly. This tip is optional for bloggers, but if you truly desire to double the number of subscribers you get on a weekly basis, it’s essential that you do it.
Add a “start here†page
Another actionable way to double your subscription rate is by adding a “start here†page. You know it – a separate high-quality page that lists your best posts, especially for those who are coming to your blog for the first time.
The truth is that converting fresh visitors into subscribers will do you a lot of good, because you’d be able to nurture them, solve their problems and win their hearts faster. A ‘start here’ page all by itself can’t do the job effectively, though.
You’ll need to add a subscription box at the top, middle or beneath the page. Don’t go stuffing your page with optin boxes. It’s a killer and could discourage your first time readers/visitors.
Give people a reason to join
In marketing 101, we learnt that potential customers may not take action, no matter how valuable your products and services are.
You’ve got to give them a reason to buy. The same thing applies to email list. I see a lot of quirky subscription letters like, “join our email list for updates.â€
There is no strong benefit in that phrase. You should use persuasion strategy, coupled with your list bait (e-book, video, membership access) or whatever giveaway offer you want to exchange someone’s email address with.
Would you like the right people to join your email list just because you’re cute? Perhaps, Yes!
But that is not a compelling reason. Ideally, tell them to join because you’ve exclusive content and information coming their way – only for list members. Make it special. But don’t tell lies or use marketing gimmicks. Bring personality into it. I’m done!
What else…?
It’s time to take action. I strongly believe that you’ve all it takes to double your email list in 30 days.
This means that if your list is 200 right now, you could increase it to 400 or more – as you apply the tips above. See you at the top!
